With a total eclipse making its way across the globe, a professor, Mohinder Suresh, learns of his father's death. Upon hearing the news, Mohinder travels to New York where he begins to uncover a secret theory involving eight individuals, all different ages and all from different backgrounds, who discover that they each have been granted unique super powers. A young male nurse tries to convince his brother that he can fly; a struggling, single mother discovers she can be in two places at once; a high school cheerleader tests her indestructibility; a drug-addicted artist paints events before they happen; and a Japanese man begins to develop his ability to stop time. Though all these heroes live in different parts of the globe and have unique abilities, they all have one thing in common -- their destiny is to save the world.

Ali Summary
We first see Niki Sanders performing a striptease in her garage, broadcasting it on the internet. Once she takes off her top, she asks the client for more money for her to show more. The client calls her a bitch and Niki leaves the garage, noticing a reflection that was a few seconds behind her own in the mirror. Shrugging it off, Niki goes into her home in search of her son Micah who has already prepared his lunch and is ready for school. Micah tells Niki that he knows what she does in the garage, but she tells him it is the only way for them to pay the bills. Suddenly, a car pulls up and Niki looks outside to see it is two of Linderman's thugs. Niki gets dressed and takes Micah through the back of the house where they leave. Next, we see Niki at Micahs school and she is talking to the principle about their money problems and how she has paid $25,000 for Micahs education, the principle however says that it was a donation.
Whilst storming out of the office, Niki sees her reflection that is not quite herself staring back. Micah notices and queries Niki about it, but she tells him shrugs it off. She drops Micah off at her friends while she heads back to the house. When entering the now trashed house, Niki sees the eclispe, unaware that the thugs are still there. They capture her and they end up in Niki's garage where one of the thugs talk Niki into a striptease, while the other one records. Niki says how she can get the money, but notices her reflection in the distance. Suddenly, the thug hits Niki on the cheek where she tells him to screw himself. Later, Niki awakes from her blackout to find herself in a bloodbath. One of the thugs is ripped in half and Niki grabs the camera and sees her reflection again in the mirror, telling her to be quiet.
